stc outlines plans to deploy AI across network infrastructure, operations

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Telecom Company (stc Group) has released its AI Native Core Network White Paper at Network X 2026, highlighting its plans to transition towards an AI-native telecom network by 2030.

The paper details the group's strategy to integrate AI into its core network infrastructure, functions, and operations to improve network reliability, enhance resource allocation, and support emerging digital services.

The initiative comes as advances in AI and 5G-Advanced (5G-A) increase the complexity of telecom networks and drive demand for faster, more responsive connectivity.

Applications such as AI-enabled calling, immersive communications, and AI agents require networks capable of coordinating communication and computing resources to meet changing service requirements.

To address these demands, the group plans to develop AI-ready infrastructure, embed intelligence into network functions, and expand the automation of network operations. These capabilities are intended to enable the network to allocate resources more efficiently, detect and resolve faults faster, and reduce the need for manual intervention.

The telecom group said the initiative builds on its existing network investments and aims to establish a scalable foundation for future AI services, intelligent interactions, and next-generation 5G-A and sixth-generation (6G) applications.

The roadmap also supports the telecom industry's broader transition from cloud-native to AI-native networks, in which AI is integrated into network design and operations rather than applied solely as an additional service or tool.

For a week, the group provided free and unlimited calls for all its customers roaming outside the Kingdom, to and from Saudi Arabia.
