Tadawul announces temporary suspension of Scientific & Medical Equipment House

Riyadh - Mubasher: The Saudi Exchange (Tadawul) temporarily halted the trading of Scientific & Medical Equipment House Company on 26 July 2026, according to an official announcement.

The suspension was implemented at the specific request of the company to facilitate the announcement of a significant material event that is expected to be disclosed to the public during the pause.

Tadawul officially notified market participants and the broader investment community of the trading suspension involving Scientific & Medical Equipment House through a formal statement, elaborating that this regulatory action has been effective as of 11:00 AM local time.

The suspension was scheduled to remain in effect for a two-hour window, concluding at 1:00 PM on the same day.

Such suspensions are a standard component of Tadawul’s listing rules and procedures regarding the suspension of listed securities.

These regulations provide a structured framework for the temporary cessation of trading when a listed entity prepares to release information that may have a substantial impact on the price of its securities or influence investor decision-making.

By halting trade, the exchange ensures market integrity and prevents information asymmetry, allowing all market participants to receive and process the forthcoming news simultaneously.

As part of the transition back to active trading, Tadawul has outlined a specific protocol for order management.

While the full trading session remains paused, a designated Order Maintenance period was slated to begin at 12:30 PM. During this thirty-minute interval, investors and brokerage firms were permitted to enter, modify, or cancel orders within the trading system.

However, no executions took place until the official resumption of the market at 1:00 PM. This phase is critical for the price discovery process, as it allows the market to recalibrate buy and sell interests in light of the material event before active trading resumes.

The request for a voluntary suspension highlights the company's adherence to the established disclosure requirements of the Saudi capital market.

Under these rules, companies must ensure that any material developments are communicated clearly and transparently to the exchange and the public. While the specific nature of the material event has not been detailed in the initial suspension notice, the procedure underscores the commitment of the Saudi financial authorities to maintaining a fair and orderly trading environment.

The temporary halt reflects the ongoing coordination between listed companies and the Saudi Exchange to uphold high standards of corporate governance.

Once the disclosure is made public and the suspension period concludes, the shares will return to active status for the remainder of the trading session.

It is worth noting that Scientific & Medical Equipment House launched its electronic voting on 23 July for the upcoming fourth extraordinary general assembly meeting (EGM), which is expected to be held on 27 July 2026.
