Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: The Transport General Authority (TGA) announced launching a new route for self-driving vehicles in Riyadh, connecting Hayat Mall and Riyadh Gallery. The autonomous vehicles will transport passengers daily under direct regulatory and technical supervision to ensure safe operations.
According to the announcement of the authority, the service forms part of broader efforts to introduce smart mobility solutions and expand the use of autonomous transport across the Kingdom. The vehicles are equipped with advanced safety technologies, including sensors, cameras, and intelligent systems capable of monitoring road conditions and responding dynamically to traffic changes. These systems are designed to enhance driving efficiency and reduce the risk of human error.
The TGA stated that the launch marks another step toward advancing self-driving transport services and improving safety and operational efficiency through advanced technology.
The initiative aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aim to build a smart and sustainable transportation ecosystem in the Kingdom.
The new route follows a successful earlier trial phase in which autonomous vehicles completed more than 1,700 trips, transported over 3,000 passengers, and covered more than 30,000 kilometers. Authorities expect additional routes to be introduced in the near future as the service expands.
